Dorothea Herbert

“The soloist [Salome], a heroine with a brunette bob in a silvery shimmering sequin dress, is the discovery of the evening. Herbert fires missiles with her explosive, yet supple voice, whose huge ambitus overwhelms upwards.”

This is just one of the jubilant reviews that have appeared after the debut as Salome in Mönchengladbach. Here's a young soprano with all the star qualities. An unusually beautiful voice in all situations, great stage presence and, last but not least, good looks. With roles such as Senta, Fidelio-Leonore, Elisabeth (‘Tannhäuser’), Elsa, Eva (‘Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’), Salome, Capriccio-Gräfin, Ariadne or Arabella she will soon be heard on German stages. In 2017, she made her debuts as Rosalinde (‘Die Fledermaus’) and Amelia (‘Un ballo in maschera’) at the Theater Bremerhaven, where she already appeared as Senta. In summer 2018, she sang her first Donna Anna in Mannheim. In autumn, her debut as Agathe followed in the new production of ‘Der Freischütz’ in Karlsruhe. She will be performing this role again in Karlsruhe in the 2019/20 season. She will also make her debut as Agathe at the Semperoper Dresden. In January and February, she sings as Fidelio-Leonore in Chemnitz. 2019/20 she has been a member of the ensemble of the Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach, where she will make her debut in the title roles of the new productions ‘Salome’ and ‘Rusalka’. With her debut as Sieglinde, she returns to Theater Krefeld in October. In September 2020 she made her debut at the Theater an der Wien in the production 'Zazà' as Floriana and La Signora Dufresne. Sieglinde in 'Die Walküre' will follow in Chemnitz in early 2021.
