Dorothea Herbert

"Consistent in this context is the much praised young Senta. Dorothea Herbert plays up as the ‘foolish’ child, who can only articulate her opposition with a pink bed, stylish ripped jeans, a retro shirt and dreadlocks. On top of this she has a lot of very beautiful notes.”

The young German Soprano with the beautiful voice conquers the stages of the German operahouses with German and Italian repertoire such as Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro), Rosalinde, Micaela, Elisabetta (Don Carlo), Agathe, Chrysothemis and the title part of Arabella. Dorothea Herbert sang her first Fidelio-Leonore at the Garsington Opera in 2015 and debuted as Elfe in Mendelssohn’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' under the baton of Ivor Bolton at the Salzburger Festspiele. In 2016, she made her debut as Senta at Oper Halle and was engaged for the same role at Theater Regensburg and Stadttheater Bremerhaven shortly after. In Bremerhaven, she also debuted as Amelia (Un ballo in maschera) and as Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus). An invitation to sing Amelia at Nationaltheater Mannheim followed immediately. In the current season 2017/18, Dorothea Herbert is second cast for the title role of ‘Das Wunder der Heliane’ in the new production at Deutsche Oper Berlin. In July 2018, she will give her debut as Donna Anna in the new production of Don Giovanni in Mannheim.
