He is indeed an impressive appearance on stage – tall and with a powerful voice. In 2016, he sang his first Holländer in Singapore with great success. He gives an impressive Scarpia and is currently studying Wotan. At the Immling Festival 2018, he made his debut as Filippo II at ‘Don Carlo’. From December 2018, he is an ensemble member of the Nationaltheater in Weimar where he appeared as Leporello and Bartolo in the 2018/19 season and will, in the future, acquire the great roles of his profession. In 2019/20, he will sing, among others, Mercer in the world premiere of ‘The Circle’, Baron Scarpia (‘Tosca’) as well as the Drache in the acclaimed new production of ‘Lanzelot’, about which the SZ writes: “A highlight of Konwitschny's flawlessly purring production is the dragon itself. Oleksandr Pushniak sings it with booming force and the intelligence of a cunning dictator.” In the 2020/21 season, he will then make his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Holländer (‘Der fliegende Holländer’), cancelled because of Corona. The 2021/22 season began with the new production of Eletric Saint, which premieres on September 5, 2021. In this production he can be seen as JP Morgan. Then follows another new production in Weimar: Caligula. He sang the title role on February 12, 2022 and the critics were jubilant: "The Ukrainian baritone Aleksandr Pushniak from Kyiv in the title role didn't spare a second: he succeeded in portraying a brilliant role. He was as confident in a tuxedo as he was in underwear, as Venus was like that as believable as a self-proclaimed literary critic. A singer with enormous vocal condition and the will to express himself truthfully. One to whom the audience hangs on every word when he complains about the nail polish and when he surprisingly pardons an intriguer." In April he introduced himself to the Weimar audience at a Wagner Gala as Wotan (Valkyrie) and Hans Sachs (Meistersinger), roles that he intends to bring to the stage soon. As King Roger he gave his debut at the Theater in Kiel .In Weimar he will be singing Holländer in the new production in 2023. |  |
