Jens-Erik Aasb°

“Daland had to be flown in as an understudy but the young [...] Jens-Erik Aasbø does it well, wonderfully bass-spiteful and deviously cozy.”

In 2019 he was able to inspire the international audience as Daland as part of the Tokyo Spring Festival alongside Bryn Terfel, Ricarda Merbeth and Peter Seiffert. Now, surprisingly, a concert performance of Act 1 'Die Walküre' was added to Jens-Erik Aasbø is a typical representative of the great Scandinavian bass tradition. Well educated, with a beautiful voice and a great acting talent, he was engaged as the first bass in the ensemble of the Den Norske Opera & Ballett in Oslo immediately after his exam in 2011, where his artistic home is also today. Since then, he has played many roles in German such as Rocco, Daland, Fasolt, but also the classical roles of his profession such as Sarastro, Il Commendatore, Basilio, and others. In spring 2020 he should make his debut as Pogner in the new production of the 'Meistersinger von Nürnberg' in Oslo. Postponed because of Corona, hopefully soon. The new production of the Bayreuth 'Ring des Nibelungen' has also been postponed to the summer of 2022. There he will be singing Fasolt. Surprisingly, a concert performance of Act 1 'Die Walküre' came into the program of the Oslo Opera. There he made his debut as Hunding in September 2020. In 2021 he sang, with great success, König Marke in the Bayreuth children's opera, 'Tristan und Isolde'. Meanwhile he is preparing for his debut as Hans Sachs in 'Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg'. A role that fits him like a glove.
