Azis Sadikovic was born in Vienna in 1983 and studied conducting with Prof. Georg Mark and violin with Prof. Werner Hink (concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic) at the Vienna Conservatory, where he graduated with distinction in 2008.
In 2018 he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the children's opera with a special edition of the ‘Ring des Nibelungen’. Re-invitations followed in 2019-21. Next summer he will take over the direction of the children's opera ‘Lohengrin’ again.
Azis Sadikovic is the winner of the Concurso Jovens Maestros in Lisbon. In addition, he won 2nd prize at the Solti International Conducting Competition 2017 in Hungary and was awarded 3rd prize and the bronze baton at the renowned Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition in Katowice.
Azis Sadikovic conducted the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Danish National Radio Orchestra, the German Radio Philharmonie, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt/Oder, the Jena Philharmonic, the Orchester Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, the Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Jyväskylä Sinfonia Finlandia, the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Prague National Theater, the Filharmonia Slaska, the Cracow Philharmonic and the Slovenská filharmónija.
Azis Sadikovic developed an extensive opera repertoire, from Gluck's 'Orfeo et Eurydice' to Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' and Beethoven's 'Fidelio' to Wagner's 'Tannhäuser', among others at the National Theater in Prague, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Darmstadt State Theater, the Klagenfurt City Theater. He worked with directors such as Keith Warner and Katharina Wagner.
The performance of contemporary works plays an important role for him. Azis Sadikovic performed at the Voix Nouvelles Festival in Royaumont/France, with the Ensemble Linea/Strasbourg and the Namascae Lemanic Modern Ensemble/Switzerland.
New ways of conveying music are important to Azis Sadikovic. He worked with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie in Saarbrücken/Kaiserslautern in January 2020 and will be a guest again with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria in 2021/22.
His symphonic repertoire ranges from Isaac Albeniz to Erich Zoubek and includes the classical romantic as well as the modern concert repertoire. With a great musical instinct, he also discovered rarely performed pieces by the composers Albeniz and Zoubeck.
