Johan Weigel

“Johan Weigel as Max, with an elegant tenor, only torn in his role, vocally flawless, [...]. Well aimed – hit the taste: The premiere audience thanked for this intoxicating opera evening with thundering applause.”

The Swedish tenor Johan Weigel began his career in Weimar and Stuttgart, where he made his debut as Tamino (‘Die Zauberflöte’), Cassio (‘Otello’), Narraboth and Pollione (‘Norma’). Further guest engagements led him to the Miskolc Summer Festival as Lenski (‘Eugen Onegin’), as Gennaro (‘Lucrezia Borgia’) to Gießen and as Matteo (‘Arabella’) to Gothenburg and Zurich. He made his debut at the Opéra National de Paris in Dallapiccola's ‘Il prigioniero’ and as Arbace in ‘Idomeneo’ under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock. He also sang Narraboth in Heidelberg and Düsseldorf, Erik in Wuppertal and debuted as Max (‘Der Freischütz’), Steva (‘Jenufa’) and Tichon (‘Katja Kabanova’) in Aachen. At the Immling Festival in summer 2018, he appeared on stage as Max with great success.
