Magdalena Hinterdobler

“...what she did with the seven early songs of Berg was of consummate sonic beauty... Even if one has heard a lot: something as perfect as the performance of these songs with the gifted voice and deep musical expression of Magdalena Hinterdobler is extremely rare to hear.”

The young soprano is one of the most sought-after young German singers of her generation. She has been a member of the Oper Leipzig ensemble since 2014 and last season she made her acclaimed debuts with the Gewandhaus Orchestra as Rusalka and Marie in a new production of Smetana’s ‘Die verkaufte Braut’. Her other roles include Susanna (‘Le Nozze di Figaro’), Pamina, Fiordiligi, Gretel as well as Ännchen (‘Der Freischütz’) and Dorella (‘Das Liebesverbot’). With Woglinde and Ortlinde she dared to take her first steps into the Wagner profession. With these two roles, she can be heard at the annual ‘Ring’ performances in Leipzig. In January 2020, she debuted very successfully with the 3rd Norn. Strauss and Wagner are the composers who will continue to play a major role in her artistic development in the future. Recently she has also been able to enthuse the audience in the Italian field with her interpretations of Liù and Musetta. She can be seen in this role at the Oper Leipzig in the 2019/20 season. There she can be heard again as Ännchen as well as Micaela (‘Carmen’) and Erste Dame (‘Die Zauberflöte’). In Autumn 2020, she will give her debut as Kaiserin in the new production of ‘Die Frau ohne Schatten’ in Chemnitz.
