Sayaka Shigeshima

"Sayaka Shigeshima is the highlight of the evening. Her acting is sensually feminine and her voice is powerful and sensual.”

The Japanese mezzo-soprano Sayaka Shigeshima was engaged directly after her studies at the University for Music and Theatre in Munich and is ensemble member of the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar since then. Like an alto, she can handle the low notes without any effort needed for an impressive Erda, but her agile voice has also the bright height to sing Annina, Octavian, Prinz Orlovsky, Marcellina, Charlotte, Mrs. Quickly, Flora, Olga and Suzuki. In April 2018, she is singing her first Venus in the new production of ‘Tannhäuser’ at Nationaltheater Weimar.
