Heike Grötzinger

Heike Grötzinger studied at the Musikhochschule Köln and graduated with honors. From 1999 to 2002 she was a member of the Städtische Bühnen Münster. In 2002, she made her debut at the Bayerischen Staatsoper München in the new production of Wagner’s Ring under the baton of Zubin Mehta. In the same year, she appeared in Berlin in the Ring-staging by Götz Friedrich, conducted by Christian Thielemann. Since then she has worked with directors like Andreas Homoki, Peter Konwitschny, Stéphane de Brunswick, Barbara Frey and Andreas Kriegenburg.

Since 2005 Heike Grötzinger is a member of the Bayerische Staatsoper. Her roles there include amongst others Die fremde Fürstin (Rusalka), Knusperhexe and Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Waltraute (Die Walküre), Margret (Wozzeck), Stolizus Mutter (Die Soldaten), Stimme aus dem Grab (Les Contes d`Hoffmann) and Flora (La Traviata).

In 2007, she sang Siegrune in Valencia in the Ring-staging of La Fura dels Baus, conducted by Zubin Mehta. At the Salzburg Festival and the Festival d`Aix-en-Provence, she worked with Sir Simon Rattle on a new Ring production. 2011 she gave her debut at La Scala in Mozart`s Zauberflöte.

In the season 2015-16, she will sing at the Bayerische Staatsoper: Marta (Mefistofele), Waltraute (Die Walküre), Schenkwirtin (Der Feurige Engel), Dritte Magd (Elektra), Mère Jeanne (Dialogues des Carmélites), Mary (Der fliegende Holländer), Xenias Amme (Boris Godunow) und Annina (Der Rosenkavalier). In autumn 2018, she was singing in the revivals of Jenufa and Arabella. In the 2019/20 season, she can be heard again at the Bayerische Staatsoper München and the Semperoper Dresden.
